Be Digital is the City of Joondalup Libraries’ exciting new program of computer classes for adults aged 50 and over. Sessions for 2021 will be advised shortly.

Sessions offered:

BeDigital – Absolute beginner

Suitable for complete beginners, you will set up your own Be Connected training site account, learn to use the internet and practice using a keyboard and mouse.

BeDigital – Set up an email account

Learn about email and be guided through how to set up an email account. Learn how to use email safely and how to recognise and identify scams.

BeDigital – Search the Internet safely

Learn about the internet and how to search it using Google. Learn the basics of computer security.

BeDigital – Using Facebook

Gain an overview of social media, learn about Facebook, set up your own Facebook account and then practice finding and requesting friends and creating a post – all using Facebook ‘friends’ created especially for you to use in this class. All attendees should have an email account and know their email address and password.

BeDigital – Video calling

Learn about video calls and the types of video calls, and learn how to use Skype. All attendees should have an email account and know their email address and password.

BeDigital – Shopping and paying online

Gain an overview of online shopping, safe ways of paying online and gain some practice in the Be Connected website online shopping practice area. All attendees should have an email account and know their email address and password.

BeDigital – Internet safety and online forms

Learn how to complete online forms, and gain some practice in the Be Connected practice area. Learn how to use the internet safely, including choosing safe passwords and identifying when a website is safe or not. All attendees should have an email account and know their email address and password.

BeDigital – Using MyGov

Gain an overview of MyGov, learn how it benefits you, how to set up your account and link services. All attendees should have an email account and know their email address and password.

BeDigital – Online banking

Gain an overview of online banking, learn how it benefits you, how to prepare to start banking online and how to bank online safely. Practice the basic skills in the BeConnected website’s online banking practice area. All attendees should have an email account and know their email address and password.
